Amovis was founded in 2003 in Berlin as a start-up and currently employs 25 people. The innovative company has a high level of competence in the field of intelligent exhaust heat recovery using ORC (Organic Rankine Cycle). ORC systems are an advanced steam cycle process in which the waste heat from combustion engines is not released unused into the environment via the exhaust gas, but is used to generate electrical or mechanical energy. In this way, the fuel consumption of commercial vehicles, for example, can be reduced by up to four percent, which corresponds to a correspondingly significant reduction in CO2. Areas of application in the stationary industrial sector include block-type thermal power stations in biogas plants.

Amovis is currently developing a highly efficient and economically very interesting axial piston machine. MAHLE already possesses considerable expertise in the area of heat transfer for ORC applications. Coupled with Amovis know-how, MAHLE now has the essential key technologies for an overall ORC system in its portfolio. There is great customer interest in this future technology for CO2 reduction, so that the first trucks with MAHLE ORC technology are expected to be on our roads from 2020.

As a leading global development partner of the automotive and engine industry, MAHLE offers unique system competence in the areas of engine systems, filtration, electrics/mechatronics, and thermal management. MAHLE offers technologically innovative original equipment solutions for automobiles, commercial vehicles, work machines, and other industrial applications. The Aftermarket Business Unit also serves the independent aftermarket with MAHLE products in original equipment quality.

MAHLE is present locally in all important world markets. In 2014, approximately 66,000 employees at approximately 150 production locations generated sales of almost ten billion euros. In ten large research and development centers in Germany, Great Britain, the USA, Brazil, Japan, China, and India, almost 5,000 development engineers and technicians work on forward-looking concepts, products, and systems.

MMC Finance advised the founders and owners of Amovis GmbH during the entire sales process. Initially, sales documents such as teaser and information memorandum were prepared and a list of potential buyers was drawn up. MMC Finance approached the purchase candidates selected together with the management and provided further information after signing a confidentiality agreement. With several interested parties, management presentations were held at the Amovis location with the participation of MMC Finance.

Congratulations to the successful sale of the company!
